MLB..sick of watching my 401k dwindle as country tries to recover from the hear no evil see no evil policies of the last 2 presidents. Therefore I have decided to take control of my own $$$. I have made solid $$$ in the past w/picks and even though I have broken basically even since end of march, the picks are up almost 43% for the year. Wish I could say the same for my 401k. Well I decided to put my $$$/future where my mouth is and put it where I don't need to rely on anyone but myself. Unconventional sure, but worth it? It should be! They say a good 401K averages 10-15% a year in returns. If I can't gain that much I should be shot. Wish me luck!!
SF(-123)(3 units)(win) following the method for the colorado pick on Sunday, you have to go with Giants in this one. You have the ace pitching against the fill-in starter thompson. Thompson is just holding down a rotation spot until Lohse returns. Thompson has been much better at home, but in his L2 starts has given up 9 runs in 12 IP(6.75era). St louis has put up only 10 runs in L5 games. Lincecum is 3-0 lifetime vs cards and has 7 straight QS. Tim also has a 1.94 era at night and 1.38 era L3 games. Lincecum is the only ace that you can consistently get good value on because the giants at times have trouble scoring runs. I think SF will put up 5 here and that should be plenty. fla RL(+125)(win) Nolasco is back and right where I was hoping he would be in april. L4 starts 25IP w/5 ER 1.8 era. Fish struggled vs TB pitching but Olsen will be another story. Olsen has been lit up by his old team both times he has faced them. L3 starts he has pitched to a 7.42 era and a 2.23 whip. Nats are 1-6 in olsen's starts this year. Hanley Ramirez is on a power surge and I can easily see another HR here from him.

Beckett has been quality for 2 months now. 3 of last 4 sox games were unders and 4 of L5 for the o's went under. Under is 13-3-3 L19 games after a sox loss. 7 of beckett's L10 games have gone under. Ump guccione is an under ump by trade. det/oak ov-7.5 call me crazy but w/braden's #'s vs tigers in the past, how does he stay in this game? Can't disagree with the fact that braden has been pitching well, but is oak winning any of his games? No. I see all the ump stats favoring oak, Verlander not pitching all that well right now, and braden's past history vs det and I can see a 6-4 game here. sea +165 I know you have to pay the yankee tax to bet on the yankees but this line is stupid. I figured even with the yankee tax the line might be 135 tops. Washburn has had success in the past 5-5 but a 2.56 era and is pitching very well right now with 5 QS in 6 games. Pettitte has struggled in all facets of this matchup. He has a losing record vs the M's(9-11 4.68), L3 starts has over a 5 era and at home has a 5.77era. Linesmakers must think he is the king of the bounceback just because has done it after his last 2 disasters. Sure yanks have won 6 in a row but Seattle is 7-3 in their L10. They have their co-ace vs yanks #5 starter and we get +160 or more? I will wait to bet this till gametime to see if I can get more but this looks like value to me. LAA(+100) game o' the night right here. I like the angels with weaver to begin an new winning streak and take the series from texas. Both pitchers are having solid seasons and from thie #'s it looks like an even matchup. Dig a little deeper and you see the angels have fantastic #'s vs millwood. Abreu 14-45(.341) w/hr, vladdy 25-75(.333) w/4 hr, hunter 13-32(.406) w/2hr, matthews 7-18(.322), napoli 5-11 w/hr, morales 2-4. I can see Kevin giving it up tonight. For the most part weaver has shut down the ranger hitters in the past. I can see this game being 6-3 angels. Yet I am not greedy enough to take the RL. Even money is good enuf 4 me SF (+140) I still will ride the cain train even though he lost last time out. Actually that makes me like him even more cuz he is on a bounceback. When a guy is 9-2 obviously there are a lot of positive trends to suport him. Wainwright has been off and on recently and hasn't fared well vs giants in the past. This year adam faced the giants and he gave up 12 base runners in 7 inn. In this matchup you have a hot team in the giants vs a cold one in the cards, the more consistent starter, a better team in closing out series(sf 13-9, stl 10-13) and an ump who has consistently favored the road team this year(road team has won 10 of 14). All this and a +140 price? I am game here.

MLB.. pit 1st 5 inn -1/2 run(even)(loss) Maholm has been dominant at home with a 1.96 era after 41IP. He gets to face a mets lineup that is w/out beltran, delgado,reyes and today sheffield is getting a rest(his team doesn't need him do they???....nah). Redding has been consistently giving up 4 or 5 in his starts for 2 weeks now and he is a fade w/out an offense to bail him out. Game will probably go under but I am not on that pick. I can see it being 4-1 or 5-2 after 5 angels(-148)(win) and under 9(-105)(win). Tough x-country trip for the o's. Heartbreaking loss yesterday. Talk about being on top of the world one day and wanting to kill yourself the next. That's the baby o's. Lackey has solid #'S vs orioles lineup. Guthrie also has solid #'s vs angel lineup. MLB..time to earn some independance from these red #'s braves(-117)(3 units)(win)..going with the braves to keep the ball rooling here tonight vs the nasty nats. Braves have to be feeling full of confidence tonight after pulling back into the NL east race by sweeping the defending champs. Kawakami is settling in to the rotation nicely in his 1st year in MLB. L5 starts he has gone 27 IP and only given 10 ER(3.33era). The think I like best is he always keeps his team in the ball game as he hasn't given up more than 3 runs since the end of april. the bats really woke up vs the phils as they hit over .300 all 3 games and slugged over .900. Now they go on the road to face detwiler. Nats are 1-7 in his starts. On the recent road trip the nats were outscored almost 2-1(36-19) and once again it looks like everything is falling apart for them AGAIN. Mcclouth looks to play tonight for the braves also. The pens are not even close here as the 2.87 for the braves this year is 1.25 era better than the nats. All in all this should be a 3 or 4 run victory here, but I will take just 1 run.

MLB.. atl/was under 9(win) Lannan has a 2.02 era at home. On the year he is 12-4 to the under. Hanson hasn't allowed a run since before he was teething. L4 starts have went under for this guy. under has happened 4 of 6 meeting between these 2 teams this year. Ump Layne is 4-2 L6 to the under as well as 4-0-1 L5 wash games and 4-2 to the under in atl games tor/nyy u-9.5(-115)(loss) I am going with the under 9.5. I forgot the under machine bell was umping. 9 of his L10 games have gone under. Toronto has gone under 6-0-1L7. Injuries and the slumps of rios and wells have killed this team. Halladay was decent his first time back but I expect him to be much better with a start under his belt. 16-5 lifetime vs yanks. Even though I was on the wang fade right up until last start, I will look for him to hold down the jays here. He has been solid 3 starts in a row now. He was really good vs the mets and I can see the slumping jays being another dose of what the doc(no pun intended) prescribed to get him back to where he needs to be. MLB. SF RL(+130) Love the fact that Fla goes from coast to coast w/o a day off here. Their reward for the long flight? You get Mr Cain who in 6 of his L8 starts has given up 0 or 1 runs. Owners of one of the best home records in MLB(26-13), they hit lefties well at home (.304) and it is a nice scheduling spot count me in. Hanley Ramirez might not play either which will be an added bonus. Sandoval being most likely out keeps this from being a 3 unit play. 1/2 units on all the dogs except Fla I can see a reason to play all the dogs tonight but I don't feel like putting 10 units up on a monday.
